The Taiwan Lantern Festival is an annual event held by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau.  The festivities' theme is the Chinese Zodiac and celebrates the coming "Dragon Year" with firework shows, torches and lanterns.

Ancient Mayan Ruin-Tik'al Temple I

Tik'al was the capital of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya.  It dates back to the 4th century B.C. and is located in Guatamala.  Tikal Temple I is considered a tomb for the ruler Jasaw Chan K'awiil.  The temple's steep staircase rises nine step levels symbolic of the nine levels of the underworld.

Hymenopus coronatus aka Malaysian Orchid Praying Mantis.  This carnivorous mantis is found in Malaysia, Indonesian and Sumatran rain forest. It's legs look strikingly like flower petals.
